This is a prose of 348 words that I’ve written in response to the movie I Am Not an Easy Man (2018).

“I Am Not an Easy Man” is a 2018 French movie that explores gender norms as well as power dynamics in society and uses humor and role reversal to address issues such as gender inequality, toxic masculinity as well as the objectification of women.
The movie follows Damien, a stereotypical chauvinistic man who objectifies women and views them as inferior. However, he suddenly enters a world where gender roles are swapped. In this new world, women hold all the power, and men are oppressed. Damien struggles to adapt to this new world, where men are expected to behave and dress in a stereotypically feminine way, and they are often objectified and treated as sex objects by women. As he explores this new world, he begins to realize how his past behavior has perpetuated these issues and contributed to the oppression of women.
However, the movie’s ending carries a hopeful message that change is possible. After discovering and understanding the challenges that women face on a daily basis and how he has contributed to the issue, he joins a protest march when he returned to his own world. The movie shows that we can make significant progress towards a more equal and fair society if more men are able to understand these issues and work towards resolving gender inequality and toxic masculinity; true gender equality requires the participation and engagement of both men and women.
I think that this movie is quite thought-provoking and challenges us to imagine a world where traditional gender roles are reversed and reflect on our current social structure. The movie challenged me to confront my own biases and preconceived notions about gender and how they influence my behavior and beliefs. One of the main themes that I resonated with was toxic masculinity, as it is still quite prevalent in society today especially online on social media. Toxic masculinity has many negative effects such as encouraging the suppression of emotion, misogyny, and discouraging people from seeking help. These effects are quite harmful and I think this is an important issue that needs to be addressed.
